Eugene Curran Kelly, August 23, 1912 - February 2, 1996 Born and raised inside Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was an American dancer, actor, singer, director, producer, and choreographer. Kelly was known for his up-&-coming & athletic dancing style, his skillful looks and a likable characters which he played in screen.

Natural around 1912, the third boy of James Kelly, the record player salesman, & Harriet Curran world health organization were two tykes of Irish Catholic immigrants. Around 1940 he was given the leading role inside Rodgers and Hart's Pal Joey, which brought him to national attention. When you took this period of time he likewise choreographed many hit plays, including a 1941 production of Best Foot Forward.

Kelly's foremost motion picture was For Us & Our Gal (1942) with Judy Garland. He went in to produce the total of classic musical theater, including An American in Paris (1951) and ''Singin' in the Rain (1952).

Kelly was awarded the favorite Academy Award “within appreciatiin of his versatility as an actor, singer, director & dancer, and specifically for his brilliant accomplishment in the art of choreography on film” in 1951 and reawarded in 1984's Oscar due to the fire which burned down his zero in the last month.

Kelly was awarded a Légion d'honneur by the French government in 1960. He too received a Life Achievement Award from either American Film Institute in 1985.

Kelly died in February 2, 1996, in Beverly Hills, California, after suffering two strokes, at a age of 83.

Kelly married threefold: Betsy Blair (1940–1957) (one little one, Kerry) Jeanne Coyne (1960–1973) (two toddlers, Bridget & Tim) Patricia Ward (1990–1996)

A Gene Kelly Awards, given annually to senior high musical comedy inside Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, are named within his honor.

Around 2005, Volkswagen used Gene Kelly's as section of their Golf GTi promotion. the television clip featured the part CGI version of Kelly breakdancing to a newly version of "Singin' in the Rain", remixed by Mint Royale. A tagline was, "The original, updated."
